About This Listing
Rocky Mountain Lake is a small recreational lake in Denver, Colorado, situated in the city’s South Valley near the intersection of South Broadway and West 46th Avenue. It serves as a public space for swimming, wading, and casual water activities, though it is not stocked for fishing. The lake is bordered by a paved walking path, making it accessible for pedestrians and cyclists. The area around the lake is open to the public, with no formal admission fee. Hours are not strictly enforced, but the space is generally available during daylight hours. The lake is surrounded by grassy fields and picnic tables, offering a simple setting for relaxation. Visitors should note that lifeguards are not typically on duty, so swimming is at one’s own risk. The lake’s size and shallow depth make it more suitable for children and those seeking a calm water experience. For questions about the lake’s condition or maintenance, visitors can contact the Denver Parks & Recreation department. The area is well-maintained, but weather conditions can affect water quality, particularly after heavy rain. Dogs are permitted on leashes, and the space is often used for informal gatherings. Nearby parking is available, though it may fill quickly on weekends.

What visitors are saying
“The shoreline is not very accessible due to tall grasses near the water, but there are some new improvements of large boulder installations on the east side of the lake. A lot of seaweeds still to make it harder, but it is totally doable now. I came the weekend after the CPW stocking, and I was able to catch plenty of trouts using my Euro Nymphing rig. Bass needs to be 15" or longer to keep.”

“Me and my family caught like 11 trout their. They were not huge but they were not too tiny either. We saw five baby geese. We used orange power bait. I think that I got a bass bite with orange power bait.”
