You get your boat of choice for the day so you can take your sweet time.The canal has very little current and you can just stay in it if you like but I chose to do a loop (canal and river). “I can see why some people here said they brought their own gear . The life jackets are really really dirty :( . Our canoe was in good condition and we had a nice little trip on the canal , there were lots of ducks and turtles . They do however need to work on their gear , they guy who helped us out with the rental wasnu2019t that friendly either . Maybe it was the hot weather .”

“Always a great time on the water. The loop is pretty mellow. Half is on the canal and half is on the Schuylkill river. You will have to lift your kayak out of the canal and carry it to the Schuylkill and the Schuylkill back to the canal. It takes me about an hour to an hour and half to do the loop. There is a great restaurant at the launch point for lunch.”

“When you get there there is a sign saying you need to reserve by 4 pm the day before. I didnu2019t see this on the website anywhere. The restaurant staff tried to contact the owner and I appreciate that. If the rental procedures were more clear we would have planned ahead as to not waste such a beautiful afternoon.”
