According to McMenamin on The Rich Eisen Show, the Lakers are willing to accommodate whatever terms LeBron James desires, whether it be a one, two, or three-year deal. They are hopeful to have him on their team for the foreseeable future until he decides to retire.
Last year, James expressed a desire to join his son in playing for the NBA. It is currently uncertain if he will join the team that selects Bronny, if any team does.
According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Los Angeles Lakers have a strong desire to keep their top player, LeBron James, during the upcoming offseason. It was stated on Thursday that the team is willing to offer him a contract of any duration.
The Lakers are willing to be adaptable with James regarding his contract, potentially giving them an advantage as they attempt to re-sign him.
This offseason, James must decide whether to exercise his player option and continue with the Lakers for the 2024-25 season or become a free agent. This decision carries a significant weight as he considers remaining in Los Angeles with Anthony Davis to pursue another championship or exploring opportunities with other teams.
An additional consideration is the potential presence of James’ son, Bronny, in the upcoming NBA season. Bronny has expressed interest in participating in the NBA draft, though he has also listed himself in the transfer portal, leaving open the possibility of continuing his education at a college level.
Davis agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Lakers for the 2023 season, ensuring he will stay in Los Angeles unless a trade occurs.
