A former NFL player who played cornerback is currently facing 15 charges of fraud in Canada, totaling more than 0,000 after being arrested.Skrine was already facing 15 bank fraud charges. Canadian police accuse him of defrauding banks of more than 0,000 with fraudulent checks to open accounts and withdraw money before they were cleared. 

Former NFL player Buster Skrine, who played as a cornerback, is reportedly evading Canadian law enforcement after removing his ankle tracking device and failing to appear in court on Monday.

The authorities suspect that Skrine engaged in this activity for a period of over nine months prior to his apprehension in 2023.

Skrine is being accused of not showing up for court and not following a release order.

Skrine joined the Chicago Bears in 2019 and remained on the team for two seasons.

According to reports, Skrine, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, would reportedly identify himself as a “retired NFL athlete” to banks.

According to the Daily Hive, Skrine was released on bail on April 9 as long as he agreed to wear a GPS ankle monitor.

He is being charged with four instances of committing fraud that exceeds ,000, seven instances of providing false information in order to obtain money, three instances of possessing unlawfully obtained property over ,000, and one instance of possessing unlawfully obtained property over ,000.

Skrine was a player in the NFL for 11 seasons and earned a total of million. He participated in his final season in 2021 with the Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers.

Skrine spent his first four NFL seasons with the Browns, from 2011-14, totaling 235 combined tackles, six interceptions and 47 passes defended in 64 games. He then moved on to the New York Jets, where he had three interceptions and 224 tackles in 59 games.
