Davis, who is 38 years old, was also given a three-year term of supervised release.
Davis played in the NBA for eight seasons, with stints on the Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic, and Los Angeles Clippers. He was also part of the Celtics’ 2008 championship squad.
Davis was convicted in November for committing health care fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracies to make false statements and to commit health care and wire fraud. He was potentially facing a prison sentence of 20 years.
Davis filed claims amounting to 2,000, claiming he underwent ,200 worth of dental procedures at a Beverly Hills dental office on October 2, 2018. However, investigations revealed that he was actually in Las Vegas on that day and traveled to Paris. This was confirmed by using the geolocation data from his cellphone.
According to government officials, Davis and his associates committed fraud against an NBA insurance program and its beneficiaries, resulting in over million in losses over the course of four years. The individuals submitted fake claims for dental work and other healthcare services that were never actually rendered.
Last month, this person was sentenced to 18 months in prison for giving inaccurate information to the NBA Players’ Health and Welfare Benefit Plan. The court also ordered them to pay back nearly $183,000.
