The Pelicans are scheduled to play against the Sacramento Kings on Friday evening, however, it is uncertain if Williamson will be able to participate. After their defeat against the Lakers, Williamson was observed walking without any bandages on his leg and did not seem to be limping when he departed the locker room.
In the Lakers game on Sunday, after only scoring 12 points, Williamson had already surpassed that total in the first quarter. His final tally of 40 points would have been his highest of the season so far, and it was also the first time he achieved a 40-point and 10-rebound game in his career.

Williamson appeared in a record-breaking 71 games this year and participated in his inaugural non-regular season match of his early career. Due to injury, he was absent during the Pelicans’ two play-in games in 2022 and their playoff series in that year. He also did not play in the team’s play-in game last season due to an injury.

At the conclusion of one of his most impressive performances to date, Zion Williamson took hold of a towel and hurled it in the direction of the New Orleans Pelicans’ sideline.

The team won with a score of 110-106 and secured the No. 7 spot in the playoffs.

Williamson scored 40 points and had 11 rebounds and 5 assists, bringing the score to 95-95 with a layup against Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers.

“He exceeded all expectations,” stated New Orleans Pelicans player Larry Nance Jr., referring to Z. “His performance tonight was exceptional. We couldn’t have asked for more from him. He was truly incredible.”

With only 3 minutes and 13 seconds remaining, the Pelicans were making a strong effort at a comeback. Unfortunately, Williamson’s night came to an end due to a frustrating left leg injury.

Currently, the Pelicans’ coach Willie Green stated that there is soreness in his left leg and he will have imaging done tomorrow to further assess the situation. More information will be determined once the results are received tomorrow. The coach has not yet spoken to him about it.

Green expressed his concern, stating it was difficult to witness their teammate’s injury and that they were all hoping and praying for his recovery. He acknowledged the perseverance and dedication their teammate showed in the game and the team’s support for him. The situation was challenging, and they would have to wait and see how things unfold.Andrew Lopez, ESPNApr 17, 2024, 12:40 AM ET
