In terms of defense, he excels in changing his position and reacting quickly to movements. He will consistently pose a threat for guarding the rim, but his exceptional agility for his stature is what sets him apart.
The potential outcome for Sarr may seem unfavorable, but it could actually benefit a team by adding a versatile defender and skilled lob-catcher who can also make three-point shots. In the best-case scenario, he would have a defensive performance similar to Jonathan Isaac’s, while scoring points with ease, creating space on the court, and making shots from drives and catch-and-shoot plays.
However, despite his athleticism and length, he still lacks refinement when it comes to offensive play. This is evident in his inefficient conversion rate when creating his own shots. He also struggles with finishing at the basket and making layups when faced with heavy traffic, often due to his weak hands.
The 19-year-old player showed exceptional skills by making 16 three-pointers, 14 jump shots off the dribble, and scoring 8 out of 14 on runners/floaters. These numbers are not typical for a player of his age and size. His smooth and precise ball handling allows him to create and take numerous high-quality shots, highlighting his offensive potential.
It is expected that Alex Sarr will be a top pick for some team due to his strong defensive skills and ongoing improvement in his ability to handle the ball and make shots on the open floor. In theory, there is no other prospect with the same potential to make an impact on the game at both ends of the court like Sarr. Standing at 7’1″, he is known for his shot-blocking abilities and can also move quickly with smaller players, make long-range shots, perform pull-up shots and fallaways, drive past defenders, and sometimes start fast breaks.
