The plan for Northeast was to have Fyffe pitch for the first nine outs and then switch her out for Presley McGinty. Fyffe expected this to continue and also expected Crofton to eagerly try to hit her pitches.Herman and her fellow batters didn’t help their own cause. Crofton stranded runners until the top of the sixth, when it already trailed by five. Connor doubled; Jasmine Daubert plated her. And then, with only one out, the Cardinals’ bats quieted again.Northeast — 1 0 1 2 1 0 X — 5 9 4
According to Bible, Marley is performing well, throwing consistent 60mph pitches. With two skilled pitchers, our team needs to focus on improving our hitting.
Kayleigh Fyffe was aware of it – the sound of yellow plastic noisemakers from her team’s fans and the desperate, strained shouts from the opposing team’s dugout creating an overpowering noise. Northeast dominated the county championship game against Crofton on Wednesday, but the pressure was on with a mere one out remaining and a slim four-run advantage.
Marley Conner of Crofton showed a positive response upon hitting a two-base hit against Northeast in the Anne Arundel County softball championships held at Bachman Sports Complex in Glen Burnie. However, Northeast came out victorious with a score of 5-1.
Fyffe expressed gratitude for his supportive teammates, stating, “We have each other’s backs.” As the sounds around them faded, Fyffe and ‘T’ shared a hug, bringing a sense of relief.

The Cardinals (17-3) had not faced her pitching in three years, but in their recent game, she struggled and ultimately lost. On Wednesday night, Fyffe recalled that encounter and the tendonitis that hindered her sophomore year on the mound. However, she also fondly remembered all nine of her previous victories leading up to this one.
The Eagles quickly gathered around their pitcher and catcher to join in the celebrations. However, Fyffe and Castle shared a heartwarming embrace instead.

As the Eagles had anticipated, they took advantage of Northeast (15-1, the current county champions) by attacking the pitching of Cardinals star player Lynsie Herman from the start. According to coach Sarah Bible, Herman was not fully recovered from a collision on the basepaths on Friday and experienced dizziness before the game.

As Stokes approached the plate, catcher Taylor Castle quickly approached her pitcher. Coach Joe Hart believed they exchanged words of encouragement as they do before every pitch.
Crofton’s skilled players were slow to make plays and despite previously holding Chesapeake to one hit, Herman was unable to regain her momentum. Frustrated, she shook her head as her accurate pitches repeatedly missed the strike zone. In the fifth inning, after a lengthy discussion with her teammates, Herman was substituted by Bible.
Hart described the dog as fighting all day and mentioned that he instructed her to continue until she was no longer feeling well, but she remained in good spirits.
As the Northeast team rejoiced in their final out and win, the Cardinals refused to give up. Stokes stayed on first base for a few minutes while her coaches appealed to the first-base umpire. According to the Bible, Weiland did not have her foot on the base when Stokes ran over it. According to Hart, it was not even a close call. However, the game was already over.
Castle instructed her pitcher to simply place the item on top of their glove. She was familiar enough with them to understand that the bright stadium lights were causing Fyffe’s glasses to fog up from the humidity.

Fyffe gave up five hits, but she also recorded five strikeouts and had no walks. This was her fastest and best feeling performance yet.
Madison Burris, a second-year student, scored the first run for Northeast in the opening inning with a single and then increased their lead in the third inning with another single. Castle and Jones both hit triples, while Jenna Burroughs and McGinty hit doubles. In the following two innings, Burroughs, McGinty, and Carleigh Canada delivered hits that earned runs for the team against Crofton.
On previous occasions, her curveball was not performing up to her standards. This time, she also used her changeup, which had a smoky trail. Fyffe managed to get two strikeouts and only one hit by her ninth out.
