However, in two out of the three games against the Sixers, Anunoby has had a negative impact for the Knicks as they have allowed more points than they have scored while he was on the court. In Game 3, he had a career low of minus-10 in 39 minutes since being traded.
“I am not concerned about my actions,” stated Brunson. “Our team suffered a defeat in which we allowed 43 points in the third quarter. Therefore, my primary focus is finding ways to adapt to that situation.”
“I honestly don’t want to sound pessimistic, but at the moment, I don’t give much significance to our current situation,” stated DiVincenzo. “I’m focused on winning the next game and then the next two after that before any further reflection.”
Although Anunoby scored 17 points and had multiple dunks in the loss on Thursday, his defensive prowess has not been as consistent as it was after he was traded from the Raptors late in December and dealing with an injury.
DiVincenzo, who had scored eight points on 3-for-10 shooting in the opener before his Game 2 heroics, was held to five low-impact points and missed all three of his 3-point attempts in 28 minutes in the Knicks’ first loss of the postseason.
Brunson recovered from a two-game period of struggling with his shooting (29.1 percent) and scored 39 points in a losing game on Thursday.
DiVincenzo sealed the Bucks’ victory by scoring a go-ahead 3-pointer with 13.0 seconds left in Game 2. However, he had another unproductive game in terms of scoring in Game 3, resulting in a loss for the Knicks.
Anunoby’s record shows 23 games in a row with a favorable plus-minus, leading the Knicks to a 20-3 record during his time on the court. This streak was interrupted by a two-month break for surgery on his right elbow.
DiVincenzo emphasized prior to the game that although the response to his crucial Game 2 shot was exciting, his focus was on the rest of the series.
