The coach of the Texans has addressed JJ Watt’s offer to return: ‘I must make a decision on that immediately.’

Previous Houston Texans’ defensive lineman, J.J. Watt, announced that this will mark the end of his contemplation about a potential comeback to the NFL, and head coach DeMeco Ryans may take up his invitation.

I require his presence immediately, I must make that phone call immediately. Whenever J.J. Watt is prepared, I am also prepared.

The seriousness of their back-and-forth is up for interpretation, but Ryans will seemingly have just one season left before the offer expires.

“I am delighted to hear J.J. express his readiness. In case we require his assistance, I have his contact information readily available,” he stated, according to Sean Pendergast from SportsRadio 610.

JJ Watt on field

On Monday, Ryans responded eagerly to Watt’s comment, having played with him in Houston and later in his career with the Philadelphia Eagles.

“He appears to be in good physical condition and ready to take action, so I might have to reach out to him. I am pleased that he is receptive.”
Former NFL defensive end JJ Watt is considering a potential return to the Texas team, but only if the Texans’ current defensive coordinator Demeco Ryans requests it.

Ryans was asked in what situation he would place the call and he responded with “Now.”

Last year, I advised DeMeco to only contact me if it was absolutely necessary. However, I assured him that I would be there for him if he ever needed to call. At the J.J. Watt Charity Classic, Watt stated on Saturday that he knows not to reach out unless it is truly urgent, as reported by the Houston Chronicle.

This will be the final year I inform him of this, as I won’t continue to train in the same way. However, he understands that if he ever truly requires it, I’ll be there to assist him. I do not see that occurring, as they have a capable team.

At a recent charity softball event in Sugar Land, Texas, Watt, who is 35 years old, announced to the press that during last season, he informed Ryan that he would be open to returning if it became “absolutely necessary.”
