The Chiefs are parting ways with a crucial member of their defensive team.

According to Pelissero, Sneed will most likely receive a new agreement with the Titans.

In his first four years as a player for Kansas City, Sneed, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2020 draft from Louisiana Tech, began in 67 games (including playoff games). He made 11 interceptions, got 8.5 sacks, made 23 tackles resulting in loss of yardage, and had 15 hits on opposing quarterbacks.

Prior to being traded to Tennessee, Sneed’s salary during his rookie contract was slightly above .5 million. Once he was given the franchise tag, Sneed was expected to earn .8 million for the 2024 season. His upcoming contract with the Titans will replace this amount and likely be in the range of the franchise tag value, with the added benefit of additional years of security.

After Sneed’s departure from the Super Bowl champions, the Chiefs no longer have a skillful cornerback known for shutting down top wide receivers. The team will now look to Trent McDuffie to take on a larger role in the secondary. Additionally, defensive end Chris Jones, who was re-signed for five years this offseason, will continue to be a key player for the team’s strong defense, which was ranked second last season.

On Friday, sources reported that the NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero stated that Kansas City is exchanging their CB L’Jarius Sneed for a 2025 third-round pick and a trade of 2024 seventh-round picks with the Tennessee Titans.

Sneed, who is 27 years old, has joined a new team with a different head coach, Brian Callahan. This marks another big move made by the Tennessee franchise during the offseason. They have already signed quarterback Mason Rudolph, running back Tony Pollard, wide receiver Calvin Ridley, linebacker Kenneth Murray, and cornerback Chidobe Awuzie during this free agency period.
