Huntley was picked as a substitute for the injured Josh Allen in the 2023 Pro Bowl, even though he had only made four starts.

In 2021, Huntley entered the game in the second quarter against the Browns when Jackson was injured with a sprained ankle. He led a late rally and almost caused the Browns to lose in their 24-22 victory. Huntley completed 27 out of 38 passes for 270 yards, with one touchdown, one interception, and a 99.7 rating. He also ran for 45 yards but fumbled twice.

Huntley, who joined the Ravens in 2020 as an undrafted rookie from Utah, has a four-year record of 3-6 with a completion percentage of 64.6%. He has thrown for 1,957 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions, resulting in a career rating of 79.0.

During his only start against his new team, Huntley had a record of 0-1 and suffered a 13-3 defeat in Cleveland on December 17, 2022. Subbing in for an injured Jackson, he managed 17 out of 30 attempts for 138 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception, resulting in a rating of 54.6.

During the game, Myles Garrett successfully performed a strip-scoop-score maneuver on Huntley, running the ball back 15 yards to score a touchdown. This game also marked Garrett’s record-breaking 16 sacks in a single season for the Browns. In total, Huntley completed 44 out of 68 passes (64.71%) for 408 yards against the Browns, with one touchdown and one interception, earning a rating of 79.8.

The Browns have once again looked to the Ravens for a quarterback to support Deshaun Watson.

Last week, the Browns and Winston, who is 30 years old, came to an agreement on a one-year contract worth million. The contract also includes the potential to earn an additional .7 million in incentives based on starting games and winning.

They have now reached a one-year agreement with Tyler Huntley, a former backup quarterback for the Ravens. Huntley stepped in for Lamar Jackson in one game against the Browns and completed another. The contract includes the base salary for veteran players, plus potential extra rewards.

The Browns require an additional quarterback due to Watson’s ongoing rehabilitation from a surgical procedure on his right throwing shoulder to mend a fractured glenoid bone. He will not be forced to return too soon and will resume throwing in Los Angeles at a later date. While he is expected to be fully recovered for training camp, his participation may be restricted during the offseason program and the June minicamp.

Last week, Huntley was released from his contract and the Ravens did not intend to rehire him. Instead, they brought on Josh Johnson to contest with Malik Cunningham for the role of backup.

Huntley, who is 26 years old, joins a group of quarterbacks consisting of Watson, newly acquired backup QB Jameis Winston, and 2023 fifth-round draft pick Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

In the previous year, the Browns sought the assistance of former Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco to rescue their season after Watson suffered a shoulder injury. Flacco had a record of 4-1 in the five games he started, leading the Browns to secure their third playoff spot since 1999. However, with Flacco as their leader, the Browns were defeated by the Texans 45-14 in the wild card round.
