He had a strong start to the season, with a batting average of .333 and an on-base percentage of .422, as well as a slugging percentage of .744 in 11 games. He has hit 5 home runs and 11 RBIs in 39 at-bats.

Tyler Black, the infielder, was sent to Triple-A Nashville in order to create space for Yelich. Yelich, who batted third as the designated hitter, joined the lineup to face the Royals.

This report was made possible by contributions from The Associated Press and Field Level Media.

Yelich was a member of the Miami Marlins from 2013 to 2017 before transitioning to the Milwaukee Brewers, where he was an All-Star during his first two seasons. He has a lifetime batting average of .286 with 198 home runs and 717 RBIs throughout his 12-year, 1,404-game career.
Since joining the MLB on April 30, Black has played in seven games, where he had a batting average of .227 and achieved two doubles and two stolen bases. He is currently 23 years old.

Yelich, who is 32 years old, was placed on the Injured List on April 16 due to a strain in his lower back. The former National League MVP has not played in a game since April 12 and has struggled with back problems on and off in recent years.ESPN News Services
