Ohio State vs. Michigan: Tickets for Rivalry Game Reach Record Prices

Tickets for the highly anticipated college football game between Ohio State University and the University of Michigan have set a new record for the most expensive regular season game in at least a decade. According to data from ticket sales company TicketiQ, prices on the secondary market have soared, although they still fall short of the most expensive college football game ever.

Key Facts

The average price for a ticket to this historic rivalry game, which has been played for 126 years, is a staggering $1,262 on the secondary market. Sideline tickets start just below $800, while the cheapest available nosebleed seats are priced at $676. These prices nearly double the cost of last year’s match-up.

The most expensive tickets for the game, offering seats near the 50-yard line, are priced at a whopping $6,400. This reflects the intense demand and excitement surrounding the clash between the No. 2 ranked Buckeyes and the No. 3 ranked Wolverines.

This year’s game is the most expensive since TicketiQ began tracking prices for the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry in 2011. In that year, tickets were priced at $120, and the cheapest available tickets never exceeded $400 between 2011 and 2022.

While this game holds the record for the most expensive regular season college football game, it falls short of the 2018 NCAA National Championship game between Alabama and Georgia, which remains the most expensive game ever tracked by TicketiQ with a get-in price of $1,752.

Big Number

117. That’s the number of years the Buckeyes and Wolverines have faced off, making this rivalry game, known simply as “The Game,” the 25th most played game in college football history. The only year the two rivals did not meet since 1918 was in 2020, when games were canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Michigan has emerged victorious in 60 of these games, while Ohio State has won 51, and six games have ended in a tie.

Tangent

Michigan will be playing without their head coach, Jim Harbaugh, who was suspended from the sidelines earlier this month for the final three games of the regular season, including the Ohio State game. The suspension was announced by the Big Ten Conference following an NCAA investigation into an illegal sign-stealing scheme, which NCAA officials criticized as an “impermissible, in-person scouting operation over multiple years.”

What To Watch For

The highly anticipated Ohio State vs. Michigan game will kick off at noon on Saturday in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
