Desailly’s unconventional suggestion stems from his belief that Mbappé could thrive in a new environment away from the traditional European powerhouses. “I’m not sure Real Madrid is the right place for him,” Desailly remarked. “There is already Vinicius on the left side. There are players who have shown good things like Bellingham. He will not be the number 1 player as he wants.”
“The fact of not announcing where he is going, even if he wants to keep it secret and announce him as a star, there must be a surprise behind it,” Desailly speculated. “If we think about the football business, I would go towards 350 million for one year from Saudi Arabia. You come back next season, the year of the World Cup, you will only be 26 years old and you will have played football. He would get money and he would play football. What does Mbappé want? He wants to play football!”

“This is what I think as a businessman,” Desailly explained. “The Saudi championship is always competitive: look at the stadiums, they are full. There are many channels broadcasting matches around the world. Saudi Arabia wants to promote football like Qatar in 2004-2005. It’s a business on both sides, and I think it would be a good opportunity for him to do more business and play football after the Euros.”
