The Portland Trail Blazers have recently announced some significant changes to their roster. In an official statement, the @trailblazers confirmed that guard/forward Rayan Rupert and forward Ish Wainright have been assigned to the @ripcityremix.
Rupert’s Move to the G League
Rupert, a 19-year-old player and the Blazers’ second-round draft pick, has not seen any action for the team since October 29th when they faced the Philadelphia 76ers. Throughout his time with the Blazers, he has only played in a limited role during garbage time. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that he will be moving to the G League for a period of time.
Wainright’s Injury and Potential Return
Wainright, 29, joined the Blazers in October after being picked up off the waiver wire. Unfortunately, he has been dealing with a calf injury since the beginning of the season, which has kept him sidelined. However, there is some positive news as he was recently upgraded to “questionable” for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Despite the upgrade, Wainright did not suit up for Portland.
Opportunity for Wainright in the Remix
The move to the @ripcityremix provides Wainright with an opportunity to regain his form and prepare for potential future appearances with the Blazers in the middle of the season. This decision allows him to warm up and stay ready for when the NBA squad calls upon him to contribute in Portland.
