Montreal Alouettes Secure Key Players for Future Success

Long throw specialist Louis-Philippe Bourassa and offensive lineman Pier-Olivier Lestage have solidified their commitment to the Montreal Alouettes, signing new contracts that will keep them with the team for the foreseeable future.

The announcement was made by the club on Tuesday, revealing that Bourassa’s contract will run until 2026, while Lestage’s contract extends until the end of 2025.

Bourassa’s Impact on the Field

Standing at six-foot-three and weighing 232 pounds, Bourassa’s exceptional performance during the 2023 season games, including 18 regular-season games and three playoff games, played a crucial role in the Alouettes’ success in the CFL. His precision allowed Joseph Zema and the team to dominate with an impressive average of 37.9 yards on kicks clearance. At 31 years old, Bourassa brings a wealth of experience, having played 75 games in the CFL with both the Ottawa Rouge et Noir and the Alouettes. He was initially drafted as a fourth-round pick, 36th overall, in 2017.

Lestage’s Outstanding Contribution

On the other hand, Lestage, also standing at six-foot-three but weighing 310 pounds, was recognized as the offensive lineman of the year for the Alouettes in 2023. His exceptional work on the field directly contributed to quarterback Cody Fajardo’s success, enabling him to rank among the leaders in the Ambrosie circuit with 3,792 yards of aerial gains and 13 touchdowns. The 26-year-old player was the Alouettes’ first pick in the 2021 draft, selected 10th overall (second round). Before joining the Alouettes in July 2022, Lestage had the opportunity to showcase his skills in three preseason games with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.
