Carlos Mendoza Provides Positive Update on J.D. Martinez

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza shared an encouraging update on veteran slugger J.D. Martinez on Sunday, revealing that the 36-year-old will be back in action soon.

According to Mendoza, Martinez is “moving in the right direction,” and he will be engaging in some “light” swinging in the batting cage over the next two-to-three days.

After dealing with initial “overall body soreness,” Martinez underwent a cortisone shot last week to address lower back tightness. As a precautionary measure, the Mets opted to give Martinez a few days off from baseball activities until the soreness subsided.

Despite the setback, the 13-year veteran remains optimistic about his return to the field. Having recently signed a one-year deal with the Mets during the late stages of spring training, Martinez has been diligently preparing to make an impact in the heart of the Mets lineup.
