The No. 5 Kentucky men’s tennis team showcased their prowess once again as they defeated the No. 10 Texas A&M Aggies in a thrilling match that ended 4-3 in favor of the Wildcats. The match took place outdoors at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex, where Kentucky secured their eighth consecutive win and maintained their undefeated record in SEC play. This victory also marked their third win against a top-10 opponent this season, solidifying their position as a powerhouse in collegiate tennis.

Doubles Domination

The doubles session set the tone for the Wildcats’ success, with the UK pair of Jack Loutit and Taha Baadi delivering a strong performance against TAMU’s Kenner Taylor and Tiago Pires. The duo secured a crucial win at third doubles, putting Kentucky within reach of claiming the doubles point. Joshua Lapadat and JJ Mercer further solidified the team’s position by defeating the No. 28 pair of Guilio Perego and Togan Tokac, ultimately securing the doubles point for Kentucky.

In the singles matches, sophomore Jaden Weekes and Frenchman sophomore Charlelie Cosnet displayed exceptional skill and determination. Weekes secured the first singles point with a straight-set win over TAMU’s Tokac, extending his winning streak to six matches. Cosnet followed suit with a commanding victory over A&M’s Perego, bringing the Wildcats within striking distance of clinching the match.

Despite a valiant effort from the Aggies, Kentucky remained resilient. Tiago Pires claimed a crucial victory on court five, while Lapadat sealed the deal with a stellar performance against No. 24 JC Roddick, clinching the match for the Wildcats.
