“Rivers shared, “Broski, @JJWatt has a record of 11 years in the NBA. And it looks like he might continue playing next year, which would make it 12 years.” He then compared Watt to someone he knows and expressed admiration for him as a football legend representing his fellow brothers. My comments were not intended to disrespect anyone, but to highlight the exceptional athletic abilities of some NBA players.”

“I will be completely truthful, I committed a mistake that I dislike when others do to me… I commented on the headline without first watching the video to fully understand the context,” Watt admitted. “I misunderstood and thought you were claiming to be able to play in the NFL, hence my strong reaction and desire for you to prove it. I accept responsibility for my actions and offer my apology, that was my mistake.”

From 2014 to 2018, Rivers had the most successful years of his career, with an average of 11.1 points in 243 regular season games.

On social media, Rivers replied to Watt and provided instances of NBA players he believes would thrive in the NFL.

“I encourage you to apply for a job in both areas,” Watt stated on X.

The most success he’s had was with the Los Angeles Clippers when his father, veteran head coach Doc Rivers, was leading the team.

The coach of the Texans has replied to JJ Watt’s offer to return, saying, “I must make that decision immediately.”

Watt posted another tweet acknowledging that he would not be able to play in the NBA, stating that he could only manage 6 hard fouls before calling it quits.
