Francisco Cerúndolo, with a career record of 74-66 on the ATP Tour, has undergone a remarkable transformation in his approach to the game. Previously known for his fiery temperament on the court, Cerúndolo has made a conscious effort to change his mindset and emotions during matches.
Reflecting on his journey, Cerúndolo shares, “I decided not to be so negative, not to be so hot, not to get so angry.” This shift in attitude has been evident in his recent performances, where he has displayed a newfound calmness and composure, even in challenging situations.

With the guidance of his coaches Kevin Konfederak and Franco Davin, Cerúndolo has been working on channeling his emotions in a positive way. Davin emphasizes the importance of using one’s character and passion to one’s advantage, rather than letting it hinder performance on the court.
“I’m showing him the way to channel it,” says Davin. “If you channel that issue in a positive way, it will improve.”
Looking ahead to his upcoming match against Karen Khachanov at the Miami Masters 1000, Cerúndolo acknowledges the significance of his mental approach. He notes, “If I change this mental aspect, I will no longer play conditioned or lose one point after the other for that reason. Maybe I’ll be able to play better.”
As Cerúndolo continues to refine his mental game and emotional control, he is poised to unlock his full potential on the court. With a renewed focus on positivity and self-control, the Argentine tennis player is on a path towards greater success and achievement in the world of professional tennis.
