In his last Monday radio broadcast of the year, Calipari suggested that he is open to retaining any players who wish to return for the following season.

This is exciting information for those who want Reed Sheppard to stay in Kentucky. He is predicted to be a top pick in the current year’s NBA Draft. This draft is considered to be a weak one, to the point where Sheppard could potentially be drafted in the top five.

Calipari has previously stated his intention to encourage specific players, such as DeMarcus Cousins, towards entering the NBA Draft when he believes it is appropriate.

It is likely that Sheppard is one of the “one or two” mentioned. I highly doubt that Rob Dillingham would come back. While he is expected to be a top-10 pick, he does not have the strong ties to Kentucky that Sheppard and his family do.

As you may have your own opinions about John Calipari, it cannot be denied that he provides unwavering support for his players, just like any other coach in the United States.

Will Calipari allow anyone to return to Kentucky Basketball this year?

When questioned about the point guard situation, Calipari expressed optimism about potentially bringing back 1-2 players who could fill that role. However, if that plan falls through, Calipari will turn to the transfer portal.

“We have a few candidates who may be able to resolve this problem for us based on their past experiences,” he stated. “If that doesn’t work out, we need to consider who else is available.”

There was at least one positive aspect of Monday.

“If someone mentions they’re returning, my immediate response would be, ‘There’s less than eight months until next year’s first game. Let’s get going, because I’m eager to get rid of this lingering feeling.'”

Is Sheppard really thinking about coming back? Who else might stay for another year?

Additionally, Coach Calipari possesses a familial bond with Wagner that may play in his favor. It is not out of the realm of possibility that we could witness Second-Year DJ Wagner.

If Sheppard decides to come back, it seems that Calipari will allow it and won’t pressure the Kentucky player to seize the opportunity for the NBA.

Is there a possibility that DJ Wagner will play for another year? It is well known that his potential for the NBA has decreased since the beginning of the season. He is currently expected to be selected in the late second round of the draft, and it seems like he could potentially go undrafted.
