“I successfully generated a strong trajectory for many of my pitches,” Currie stated. “It’s something that has come naturally to me, but I have also been dedicating a lot of effort towards refining it.”

“I am excited to see this team compete,” expressed Perdue. “In the past, our pitching has been strong but we struggled with scoring runs. It’s a great feeling to see us have a strong start in terms of scoring.”

Currie excelled on the mound. After a successful junior season, Currie delivered an impressive performance on Monday, recording 13 strikeouts and giving up only one earned run. This adds to her previous double-digit strikeout performance.

“It is comforting to have the support of my teammates,” she expressed. “When we score runs, it allows me to stay calm while pitching, even if I give up a hit or run. I am confident that we will be able to make a comeback.”

The key to success for Century softball coach Kim Perdue this season is to provide the pitcher with ample run support.

The Knights gave strong support to their top pitcher, Jordan Currie, scoring 10 runs off of 13 hits. In return, Currie delivered a dominant performance on the mound, striking out 13 batters as the Knights secured a 10-2 victory over the Cavaliers.

After the game, Perdue praised Currie and her senior teammates, who were all happy following the victory. The coach expressed immense pride in Currie’s dedication and determination, especially considering her previous role as a bench player in the past, and how she has now become one of the top players in the county. With Currie excelling on the field and leading her team, she is optimistic about their potential as the Knight team looks to give their seniors a memorable send-off.

According to Perdue, if we continue to play like this, we have a good chance of winning the county championship. The seniors on our team deserve it, so we will put in maximum effort and take it one game at a time.

“I was confident that getting the first hit would set me up for success,” expressed Carver. He ended the game with a 3-for-4 record and three RBIs.

The pitcher received strong defensive backup when Coyle caught a line drive at shortstop and quickly threw the ball to first base to catch Alayna Enoff, who was being overly aggressive, resulting in a double play. Clark also made a impressive dive at third base for an out, helping the Knights secure the victory.

The Knights (2-0) got off to a strong start with a run courtesy of a hit by catcher Mackenzie Carver during the first inning of their first home game.
Carver’s second hit, a two-RBI double in the bottom of the fourth, was followed by a Mastria home run the next inning that blew the game open as the Knights leaned on their ace to finish the job.

Currie was grateful for the run support provided by Carver, Rileigh Coyle, Abby Mastria, Caylee Clark, and Lizzie Ferment, all of whom finished with multiple hits.

The Knights displayed their offensive potential in Monday’s match against South Carroll, showcasing their ability to be a formidable opponent when their hitters are on form.
