Following the game, Beverley refused to let Adams question him during a group interview in the locker room. This was due to the fact that Adams was not a subscriber to his podcast. Beverley instructed Adams to remove her microphone from his face, and eventually asked her to exit the interview circle.
Patrick Beverley, guard for the Bucks, received a four-game suspension with no pay for throwing a basketball at fans multiple times and for an “inappropriate interaction” with ESPN producer Malinda Adams. This occurred after the Milwaukee team lost their Season 6 game against the Indiana Pacers in their first-round series last week. The NBA made the announcement on Thursday.

“I promise to improve,” he stated. “I am determined to do better, and I will do better. That should never have occurred. Regardless of the circumstances, it should have been avoided. It’s as simple as that.”

According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, Beverley will become a free agent this summer after being on a minimum salary contract with the 76ers and Bucks this season. If he renews his contract for next season at the minimum salary, he stands to lose around ,000 due to his suspension. The projected minimum salary for next season is .3 million.

As a consequence, he had to sit out the opening game of the 2021-22 season due to his suspension.

Beverley was seen on camera tossing a ball into the spectator area and hitting a fan in the head. He requested the ball back, had it returned to him, and proceeded to throw it once again at the same fan.Indianapolis police announced Wednesday they were opening an investigation into “an NBA player and citizen” altercation, after Beverley threw a ball multiple times in the fourth quarter of what ultimately became a 120-98 loss to the Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse a week ago.

“NBA Senior Vice President of League Operations Communications, Tim Frank, declared that Patrick Beverley’s conduct towards ESPN producer Malinda Adams was deemed inappropriate, unprofessional, and did not meet the expected level of professionalism that is consistently upheld by NBA players in their dealings with the media.”

This is not Beverley’s initial suspension after finishing his twelfth year in the NBA. In 2021, while playing for the LA Clippers, he was given a one-game suspension for pushing Chris Paul in the back as they both walked to their benches during the fourth quarter of a decisive loss to the Phoenix Suns in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals.

According to a statement from the police, the case has been handed over to detectives who are currently looking into the matter and taking all allegations seriously. Once the investigation is concluded, the case will be referred to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.Tim Bontemps, ESPNMay 9, 2024, 02:13 PM ET

In the playoffs against Indiana, Beverley started all six games and maintained an average of 8.2 points and 5.5 assists. He will be turning 36 in July.

On Wednesday’s episode of “The Pat Bev Podcast,” Beverley revealed that he was called a derogatory term that he had never been called before. However, he acknowledged that his own behavior was unacceptable.
