Atlanta Braves Make Trade with Los Angeles Angels
Reports have surfaced indicating that changes are on the horizon for the Atlanta Braves’ roster. According to a report by Daniel Alvarez-Montes, the Braves are in the process of trading infielder Luis Guillorme to the Los Angeles Angels. The specifics of the return in this trade remain undisclosed, and neither team has officially confirmed the transaction.
The Los Angeles #Angels are acquiring INF Luis Guillorme from the Atlanta #Braves, sources tell @ElExtrabase.
Guillorme, 29, signed a 1-year / $1.1M deal with Atlanta during the offseason.
He’s only appeared in 9 regular season games so far.
Guillorme joined the Braves on a one-year major league contract during the offseason. Despite this, he has seen limited playing time, participating in just 10 games and achieving a 3-for-20 record at the plate. The majority of his appearances came while Ozzie Albies was sidelined due to a fractured toe. Guillorme’s most recent game was on May 4, where he made a pinch-hit appearance against the Dodgers, marking his first game since April 24.
With David Fletcher currently at Gwinnett, the Braves had some flexibility in their backup infield positions.
UPDATE: The trade has now been finalized, with the Braves acquiring either a player to be named later or cash considerations from the Angels in exchange for Luis Guillorme. This move creates an opening on the 40-man roster and the active roster, which will be filled before the upcoming series opener in New York.
