With both teams tied at 3 points and only 49 seconds remaining in Game 2 of the New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes match, ESPN’s coverage abruptly switched to the introductions of the Dallas Stars vs. Colorado Avalanche game. This game was originally supposed to start on ESPN, but due to the extended duration of the Rangers-Hurricanes game, it began on other channels such as ESPN2 and ESPNU.

During the first overtime, no points were scored by either team. The game didn’t come to a close until Vincent Trocheck scored a goal on a power-play at 7:24 into the second overtime, giving the Rangers a 2-0 advantage in the series.

Fortunately, ESPN swiftly fixed the error and resumed coverage of the Rangers-Hurricanes game at Madison Square Garden before regulation ended. There was only a brief interruption of about 17 seconds, and thankfully, no goals were scored during that time.
