Excitement Builds as Players Announced for 2024 Parisian Grand Slam

With just five weeks remaining before the qualifying rounds kick off for the highly anticipated 2024 edition of the Parisian Grand Slam, tennis fans around the world are buzzing with excitement as the list of players who have secured direct entry into the main draws has been unveiled.

Women’s Singles: Osaka and Kerber Make a Comeback

In the women’s singles category, the spotlight shines on eight players who have opted to utilize their protected ranking following periods of absence due to injury or maternity leave. Among them are former champions Angelique Kerber (No.31) and Naomi Osaka (No.46), both of whom marked their return to the court in Australia earlier this year after welcoming their first child in 2023. Joining them are Irina-Camelia Begu (No.49), Amanda Anisimova (No.61), Bianca Andreescu (No.64), Julia Grabher (No.73), Alison van Uytvanck (No.97), and Aleksandra Krunic (No.99), all of whom have secured direct entry into the main draw, with the cutoff ranking currently set at No.99.

Additionally, a strong contingent of French players including Caroline Garcia (No.22), Clara Burel (No.44), Diane Parry (No.49), Océane Dodin (No.76), and Varvara Gracheva (No.94) will also bypass the qualifying rounds and head straight into the main draw.

However, the absence of defending finalist Karolina Muchova (No.12) from this year’s tournament lineup due to a wrist injury adds a touch of unpredictability to the women’s singles competition.

Men’s Singles: Nadal Leads the Charge

Turning our attention to the men’s singles draw, five out of the 104 players granted direct entry into the main draw have benefited from a protected ranking, with the legendary Rafael Nadal (No.9) headlining the list. The 14-time Roland-Garros champion will be joined by Marin Cilic (No.21), Denis Shapovalov (No.27), Kei Nishikori (No.48), and Kwon Soonwoo (No.80) as they gear up to showcase their skills on the Parisian clay.

With the cutoff ranking for the men’s singles draw also set at No.99, Frenchman Luca Van Assche secures the final direct entry spot, rounding out a group that includes nine other talented French players such as Ugo Humbert (No.13), Adrian Mannarino (No.20), Arthur Fils (No.36), Gaël Monfils (No.37), Arthur Cazaux (No.75), Arthur Rinderknech (No.79), Constant Lestienne (No.91), Corentin Moutet (No.92), and Hugo Gaston (No.96).
