Yaroslav Askarov is eager to move forward.
In August, the Sharks secured the highly regarded goaltending prospect Askarov from the Nashville Predators, parting with a substantial trade package that included San Jose’s 2023 first-round draft pick, David Edstrom, along with the Vegas Golden Knights’ 2025 first-round selection.
The No. 11 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft had requested a trade following the Predators’ July 1 decision to re-sign franchise goaltender Juuse Saros to an eight-year contract extension.
For the third consecutive day, Yaroslav Askarov has been absent from training camp.
According to multiple sources, “Nothing serious that would be long-term.”
This aligns with what #SJSharks are reporting as well, just to confirm.

The affable goaltender also discussed his connection with Jake Walman regarding goal celebrations, whether he cares about other teams’ opinions on his celebrations, the origins of his bench-press celebration, his recent move from Shakir Mukhamadullin’s apartment, and his current injury status.
