Unrivaled 1-on-1 Tournament Restructured Due to Injuries
seven WNBA players are out due to injuries, leading to a schedule change for the Unrivaled 1-on-1 tournament presented by Sprite. The first round will now be a single session from 7 to 9 p.m. ET on Monday, Feb. 10 at Wayfair Arena,airing on the Unrivaled Basketball Twitch channel.
The originally slated seven-player starting lineup has been replaced, with 16 players vying for the title.
Tournament format Shift
Players originally slated to compete in the first round, including Natasha Cloud, Alyssa Thomas, Tiffany Hayes, Marina Mabrey, Kate Martin, Brittney Sykes, and Kayla McBride, will no longer participate.
As a result, a new set of first-round matchups has been announced by Unrivaled Basketball on Twitter:
* Napheesa collier vs. Kate Lou Samuelson
* Chelsea Gray vs. Shakira Austin
* Kahleah Copper vs. Aliyah Boston
* Rhyne Howard vs. Lexie hull
* Skylar Diggins-Smith vs. Dearica Hamby
* Allisha gray vs. Jordin Canada
* Jackie Young vs.Rickea Jackson
* Breanna Stewart vs.Aaliyah edwards
Seven players, including Arike Ogunbowale, Rae burrell, Azura Stevens, Courtney Williams, Satou Sabally, DiJonai Carrington, will automatically advance to the second round.
The 23 players competing for the $200,000 prize are looking forward to a fierce competition. The first-place winner will receive $50,000,while the remaining finalists will share a $75,000 prize pool. Adding an exciting twist, the winner’s teammates will also receive $10,000 each, fostering a strong sense of team camaraderie throughout the tournament.
