William Byron Claims Back-to-Back Daytona 500 Victory
William Byron made history Sunday,winning teh Daytona 500 for the second consecutive year and becoming the fifth driver to achieve the feat. A late-race crash with five laps remaining shuffled the pack, allowing Byron to surge from outside the top five and take the checkered flag.
Tyler Reddick secured second place, while two-time Daytona 500 champion Jimmie Johnson finished a surprising third.
Byron’s victory capped a dramatic race that saw multiple rain delays,cautions,and thrilling battles for the lead. With just eight laps remaining, Spire Motorsports driver Corey LaJoie temporarily took control following a restart.Earlier in the race, Austin Cindric led with 20 laps to go, but the race’s final laps proved to be the most intense.
