The Smith Entertainment Group, the owners of the newly established Utah NHL franchise that will be known as the “Hockey Club” during its inaugural season prior to selecting a permanent name, has announced an accelerated timeline for the project. The aim is to have the training center operational in time for the 2025-2026 season. Earlier this month, SEG revealed the acquisition of the 111-acre property, encompassing the mall, nearby parking, and various adjacent retail, dining, and hospitality venues located between I-15, 10000 South, State Street, and 10600 South. Additionally, SEG intends to make the facility available for community use beyond the Utah Hockey Club’s defined activities, including youth and amateur hockey and general recreation.
