The situation surrounding Alexei Kolosov is currently in a state of uncertainty.
Recently, the Flyers’ goaltending prospect changed his representation to Dan Milstein of Gold Star Sports Management Group, an update confirmed by Milstein to NBC Sports Philadelphia on Monday. Prior to this, Kolosov was represented by J.P. Barry of CAA Hockey.

Five days later, Belarushockey.com reported that Kolosov may possibly return to the KHL next season due to difficulties in adjusting to North America. At that time, the Flyers were not informed of any plans for Kolosov’s return to the KHL, and it was suggested by a source that he had been feeling homesick.
On Monday, Milstein provided no updates concerning Kolosov’s status for the 2024-25 season. With the Flyers rookie camp starting in less than a month, it remains unclear whether the 2021 third-round pick will be part of the team’s plans in North America.
“Nothing has been communicated directly to us,” Flyers general manager Danny Briere stated recently during an appearance on the Nasty Knuckles podcast with Riley Cote and Derek Settlemyre. “We have been trying to find answers. Since Alexei doesn’t speak English, we can’t simply reach out to him. It has been challenging to get clear answers from his agent, as they usually skirt around the issue. Kevin Kurz from The Athletic reported on Monday that Kolosov would prefer to continue playing on loan with Dinamo Minsk in the KHL.
Given that Kolosov was already on loan last season, it’s likely the Flyers do not endorse this plan, particularly since his development with the Phantoms is crucial for his eventual transition to the NHL.
“It’s important to remember that this is not easy,” Briere mentioned on the Nasty Knuckles podcast. “He comes from Belarus, relocates here, and speaks no English. Unfortunately, last year there weren’t any other Russian-speaking players in Lehigh Valley, and by that point in the season, it was too late. Our plan was to give him a chance to experience life here to help his transition in the year ahead. That was the intention.”
