Ty ‌Dillon will be stepping down from⁣ his role in the⁣ No. 25 Rackley‍ WAR Chevy in ⁤the NASCAR Truck Series, with Dawson‍ Sutton taking over⁢ effective immediately.

Dawson Sutton, the son of ⁢team co-owner Curtis Sutton, will fill Dillon’s position after making his Truck⁢ Series debut recently. At just 18 years old, Sutton‍ has shown potential⁣ despite limited experience. His Truck Series record includes two races: finishing 28th at North Wilkesboro ⁤and 18th at Nashville.

Dillon’s performance in the No. 25 Rackley WAR Chevy has been somewhat disappointing, with only two top-10 finishes this season. This performance stands in stark contrast to what his predecessor, Matt DiBenedetto, achieved. DiBenedetto secured‌ seven ⁢top-10 finishes during his time, which included a win at Talladega⁢ in 2022. He also qualified for the ⁤playoffs with 12⁤ top-10 ⁢finishes across 20 races, including‍ two third-place finishes.

Although Dillon is leaving his driving position, he will continue with Rackley WAR as a mentor ‌for the rest of the season. Reflecting on his sudden departure, Dillon⁤ shared on social media:

“I am⁣ grateful to everyone at Rackley WAR for allowing me ⁢the chance to return to the⁤ Truck Series. I look forward to mentoring Dawson ⁢for the rest of the season, and I am excited to focus on my future driving plans in 2025.”

Willie Allen, co-owner of Rackley WAR, also ⁣weighed in on the ‌situation in a press release from the team, stating:

“We are incredibly thankful for the contributions Ty has made as our ‌primary driver this year. We appreciate his willingness⁢ to take on an additional role ⁣in helping Dawson grow and develop as a young driver for the ⁤remainder of the NASCAR Truck Series season. We look forward to Ty’s continued valuable insights and support in advancing our race program.”
