Following facility renovations under the city’s Renowatt Plan, the club has seen a significant rebound. According to BC Mont-sur-Marchienne President Pascal Colmonts, the renovations allowed the club to welcome back members and fully restore its youth program. While awaiting the completion of all renovations and a final inspection by fire safety officials, the club is optimistic about the future.
Successful Tournament Draws Top Talent
The BC mont-sur-Marchienne recently hosted its annual tournament, drawing 127 participants across various skill levels. “We are relatively pleased,” Colmonts stated, highlighting the strong participation from top-ranked players (rankings 1-4). The two-day tournament included singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles matches, attracting players from across Belgium, including Esneux and Liège, and also neighboring countries like the Netherlands, France, and Luxembourg.
Youth Star Shines Bright
Among the club’s 80 young players is Tim Garbe,a dedicated member who has been with BC Mont-sur-Marchienne for 14 years. Garbe, competing in both singles and doubles, expressed his commitment to the club and the annual tournament. “For me, the tournament is a must because it is the tournament of my club,” Garbe said. At level 5-6, the 20-year-old aims at progressing.
Club Prioritizes Fun and Development
BC Mont-sur-marchienne emphasizes both fun and development in its approach to badminton. Garbe expressed the need to relax and have fun, stating “If we don’t have fun, we can’t continue what we do for long.”
