Frisco, Texas – Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is making the most of his time at the East-West Shrine Bowl, even though he won’t be participating in the game or practices. Instead, Sanders is focused on meeting with NFL teams and showcasing his potential ahead of the 2025 draft.
Sanders, the son of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, has been seen speaking with various front offices, including the Tennessee Titans (holders of the No. 1 pick) and the Cleveland Browns (with the No. 2 pick).
“I came hear for a purpose,to meet with the teams so they can understand me and get to no me,” Sanders said.”I’m not ducking. I ain’t hiding. I’m right here, alive in the flesh, able to answer whatever questions are out there.”
While not practicing, Sanders is still gaining valuable insights into the NFL world. He attends practices at the University of North Texas and engages with coaches involved in the Shrine Bowl.The game is scheduled for Thursday at AT&T Stadium.
Sanders plans to prepare for the draft by training at his father’s home in Canton, Texas, and at Colorado, where he played for two seasons.
“Thankfully, he built a compound. We have everything we need, so I’m glad he did that and we have those resources. And at Colorado,right after the players get done working out and lifting,I want to go in there also,where it’s free.I’m working out where it’s free,” Sanders noted.
He has also been training recently with former Miami quarterback Cam Ward, another top prospect, at SMU.
A graduate of Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill, Sanders led his team to three consecutive Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) state championships while amassing impressive statistics – 12,627 passing yards and 166 touchdowns over four seasons.
Sanders attributes his strong work ethic to his father’s influence, stating, “He made sure we woke up in the morning, ate breakfast and got on the field to run. He always instilled work, discipline and character in everything on and off the field.”
Sanders confidently believes he deserves to be the top pick in the draft but remains committed to the process.”Everything been fun and I’m truly thankful,” he said. “It’s everything I pray for when I take a knee in the end zone before the games.”
