CRANBERRY, Pa. — Rutger McGroarty is aware that securing a position with the Pittsburgh Penguins is not a certainty.
The 20-year-old forward prospect did not anticipate being given a spot after his trade from the Winnipeg Jets on August 22.
McGroarty is set to participate in the 2024 NHL Rookie Showcase in Buffalo, which is the only commitment made to him, he noted.
His goal is to earn his way to Pittsburgh.
“I believe that I will get what I deserve, and I plan to come ready to work for camp,” McGroarty expressed on Wednesday. “I’m pleased with where my game stands right now, but I’m eager to get to camp and hopefully leave a strong impression.”
