Pickleball takes Flight in wassenaar: Badminton Club Launches Pilot Program
WASSENAAR – Badminton Club Wassenaar (BCW) is introducing pickleball to its members and the wider community, launching a pilot program to explore the sport’s potential within the club. Starting April 28, residents can try pickleball on Monday evenings at Sporthal De Duinpan.
BCW Courts New sport: Combining Badminton and Pickleball
BCW, a fixture in Wassenaar for over 50 years, is running the pilot to gauge interest in pickleball and assess its compatibility with badminton within the same facility. The club hopes the initiative will attract new members and enhance the existing sports offerings.
Try Pickleball for Free: Pilot Program Details
The pickleball sessions will be held at Sporthal De Duinpan, Dr. Mansveltkade 11, on the grounds of De kieviten, every Monday from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM. BCW provides all necessary equipment,including paddles and balls; participants need only bring indoor sports shoes with white soles.
Membership Perks: Play Both Pickleball and Badminton
non-members can participate in two free introductory sessions. Following this, individuals can choose a 10-session pass or a full BCW membership. A BCW membership grants access to both badminton and pickleball.

What’s the buzz about Pickleball?
Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton,tennis,and table tennis. It’s played on a badminton-sized court with a slightly modified net, using paddles and a plastic ball with holes (similar to a wiffle ball). It’s known for being easy to learn and fun for all ages and skill levels.
Fun Fact: Pickleball was invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, Washington, by three dads looking for a game their kids could play!
Where and when can I try Pickleball in Wassenaar?

What do I need to bring?
