Novak Djokovic Chasing History at Nitto ATP Finals
World No. 1 Aims for Seventh Title
Novak Djokovic is on the verge of making tennis history as he pursues his seventh Nitto ATP Finals title. With two victories separating him from breaking the tie with Roger Federer for the most titles in tournament history, Djokovic has a chance to etch his name in the record books.
When Jannik Sinner defeated Holger Rune on Thursday evening, it not only confirmed Djokovic’s spot in the semi-finals but also provided him with an opportunity to continue his pursuit of greatness.
Last year, at the age of 35, Djokovic became the oldest champion in the history of the event, surpassing Federer’s record from 2011. The Serbian first claimed victory at the season finale 15 years ago in 2008 when it was known as the Tennis Masters Cup.
In addition to his quest for the most Nitto ATP Finals titles, Djokovic is also aiming to climb other leaderboards. Currently tied with Bjorn Borg for fifth in winning percentage at 72.7%, he has a chance to surpass Boris Becker and move into fourth place. Ilie Nastase holds the top spot with a winning percentage of 88%.
