“I’ve spent a lot of time here and love this place,” Melvin stated. “So, I’ll miss it; it’s going to be bittersweet. … Perhaps there’s a little more motivation [not that you don’t want to win every game] because this is the last Bay Bridge Series, so it would be nice to perform well.”

“We secured a great victory in front of our home fans,” Kotsay remarked. “We have one more [Sunday] against the Giants to wrap it up.”
Kotsay was pleased to arrive at the ballpark around 9 a.m. Saturday and see fans already in line for parking, ready to tailgate — a sight not often witnessed lately due to the strained relationship between fans and ownership intent on leaving.
“The fact is this is the last series between the Giants and A’s in this venue,” Kotsay noted. “I’m sure once it’s all done, it will be best to reflect on the emotions then.”
