Scheduled for February 2, the preseason NASCAR Clash will take place at the historic Bowman Gray Stadium, a quarter-mile track that also serves as the home field for Winston-Salem (N.C.) State University football.
This track gained fame as the setting for the docuseries “Madhouse” and is set to host its first Cup event since 1971. It previously held Cup races from 1958 to 1971 and continues to host weekly summer races, along with various NASCAR regional and modified events.
Owned by the city of Winston-Salem, the promotional rights for racing at this facility were acquired by NASCAR earlier this year.
According to NASCAR Executive Vice President Ben Kennedy, “Bowman Gray Stadium has a storied history in motorsports, so we look forward to bringing the Cup Series back to this revered racetrack for the first time since 1971.”
Though the start time and race format have yet to be announced, the race will be broadcast on FOX and is scheduled for the Sunday two weeks before the Daytona 500. Additionally, FOX and NASCAR will work together on a one-hour documentary to celebrate the return of Cup racing to the track.
For the past three years, the Clash has been held on a temporary track set up inside the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
As of now, NASCAR has not released a comprehensive schedule for 2025.
