NASCAR has‍ issued penalties to Todd Gilliland and his team, Front Row Motorsports,‌ after the No. 38‍ car ⁣failed inspections on three separate occasions during the qualifying session at Daytona International Speedway.

Despite these challenges, Gilliland successfully secured a second-place starting position, trailing only his teammate, Michael McDowell, who earned the pole‍ for the Coke ⁣Zero Sugar 400.

The implications of Gilliland’s failed ‌inspections primarily affect⁢ his pit strategy. Losing⁢ the opportunity to choose his pit stall could significantly hinder ‌his performance in the race on Saturday night.

The⁣ penalties ‌also impact Gilliland’s team as the ‌car chief has been⁢ ejected from‍ the ‍event, adding more pressure for the team to regroup⁣ and concentrate amid these difficulties.

Bob Pockrass, a⁣ reporter for FOX Sports,⁣ shared on social media:

“In Cup tech,⁤ Todd ⁣Gilliland’s car ‍didn’t pass until the third attempt, so even ⁣though he’s starting on the ‌front row,⁢ he won’t be‍ able to choose his pit stall ⁣(they lose that selection). His car chief was also ejected. All other ‍cars passed⁤ on their first or second attempts.”

Currently, Gilliland sits in twentieth ⁢place in the Cup Series standings⁣ with ⁢a total of 455 points, leaving him with ‌just two races to secure‌ a⁤ spot in the ‍playoffs.

As Michael McDowell prepares to leave Front Row Motorsports for Spire Motorsports, the team ‍is considering Noah Gragson and another unnamed driver ‌to fill their‌ roster for the upcoming season.
