The playoff driver and his wife gathered food for cats and dogs following the historic storm.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After Hurricane Helene, NASCAR star Daniel Suárez aimed to ensure that everyone received necessary support, particularly those with paws.
Suárez, along with his wife Julia, collected dog and cat food and assisted in delivering it from Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“I’m a huge animal enthusiast; I adore all types of animals,” Suárez remarked. “We have both dogs and cats at home. I wanted to ensure we didn’t overlook any of the animals out there.”
Prior to the Bank of America ROVAL race on Sunday, Suárez chatted with Sports Director Nick Carboni about various subjects, including his recent journey to becoming a United States citizen this summer.
“It has been an incredible journey,” he shared. “It’s truly special. A decade ago, this seemed impossible. To be able to now say I’m a dual citizen, American and Mexican, holds great significance for me.”
Suárez is also enthusiastic about next year’s NASCAR Cup Series playoff race taking place in Mexico City.
“That’s a dream come true,” Suárez stated. “I’ve envisioned racing in front of my fellow countrymen every single day.”
This weekend, Suárez is competing to secure his spot in the Cup Series playoffs. Currently, he finds himself on the bubble, trailing by 20 points to qualify for the Round of 8.
“I know I can perform well at the ROVAL. I believe we are capable of winning the race. Ultimately, we need to determine whether we’re aiming for the win or merely for points. Realistically, 20 points on a road course is surmountable. It’s something very achievable. We’ll see how everything unfolds.”
