Cameron Ward,the nation’s leading passer in touchdowns and the NCAA’s all-time leader in career touchdown passes,has been named the winner of the 2024 Manning Award. The prestigious award, presented annually by the allstate Sugar Bowl, recognizes the top quarterback in college football.
Ward becomes the first Miami Hurricane to receive the honor, which was established in 2004. He is also the fourth player from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) to earn the distinction.
The Manning Award, celebrating its 21st anniversary, is unique in that it considers both regular season and postseason performance in its selection process. A panel of national and local media, along with the Manning family – Archie, Peyton, and Eli – cast ballots for the award.

Ward’s remarkable season included him being named a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and the ACC Player of the Year – the first Miami player to achieve that distinction. He finished the season with 305 completions out of 454 attempts, amassing 4,313 passing yards (second nationally) and a nation-leading 39 touchdowns, with only seven interceptions. His Quarterback Rating (QBR) of 88.0 was also the highest in the country.
