The Los Angeles Lakers will begin the season with a home game against Minnesota. They will celebrate Christmas in San Francisco facing the Warriors and will make their first appearance at the Clippers’ new arena on January 19 during the upcoming season.
The NBA officially announced the complete 82-game schedule for the 2024-25 season on Thursday, with the Lakers confirming one significant event: the opening night game against the Timberwolves is set for October 22.
On January 13, the team will retire Michael Cooper’s No. 21 jersey. This ceremony will take place during a matchup against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs. Cooper was inducted into the Hall of Fame earlier this spring and will be enshrined in October.
New head coach JJ Redick will have his initial game against the defending champion Celtics on January 23, followed by his first visit to Boston on March 8.

The Lakers will kick off their season with three home games against Western Conference rivals, facing Minnesota, Phoenix, and Sacramento, before embarking on a five-game road trip. This trip marks the second-longest of the season, following the annual Grammy road trip that occurs at the end of January.
However, this road trip is less demanding than in previous years since it concludes with a matchup against the Clippers in Inglewood.
The Lakers’ first visit to the new Intuit Dome is scheduled for Sunday, January 19. The Clippers will return to Crypto.com Arena for back-to-back games on February 28 and March 2.
The regular season wraps up in Portland on April 13.
At present, the Lakers’ roster remains nearly identical to last season’s, featuring rookies Dalton Knecht and Bronny James as the only new faces, while Taurean Prince and Spencer Dinwiddie have departed.
The preseason kicks off for the Lakers on October 4 in Palm Springs against the Timberwolves.
