For the first time during the Shohei Ohtani era, the Los Angeles Dodgers are advancing to the NLCS.
Key contributions came from Kiké Hernández and Teoscar Hernández, each hitting home runs, along with five scoreless innings pitched by Yoshinobu Yamamoto, which secured a 2-0 victory for the Dodgers in the division series-clinching Game 5 against the San Diego Padres on Friday night.

Yamamoto helped the Dodgers maintain their early advantage by delivering five scoreless innings in his second postseason appearance.
He exited the game after throwing 39 strikes out of 63 pitches, recording two strikeouts, allowing only two hits, one walk, and no runs.
This performance marked just his first five-inning outing since returning from a shoulder injury sustained in September.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto provided the Dodgers with 5 scoreless innings when their season was on the line. He generated fewer swings and misses (4) than the number of balls hit with over 100 mph (6). Evan Phillips is expected to take over in relief. The Padres have not scored in 20 consecutive innings.

Concerns surrounding Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s first inning were evident, but he managed to quiet those doubts.
He delivered a clean first inning, allowing the #Dodgers the opportunity to strike first in the bottom half.
