Seattle Storm Acquires Lexie Brown from Los Angeles Sparks
The Seattle Storm strengthened its backcourt depth by acquiring guard Lexie Brown from the Los Angeles Sparks in exchange for the Storm’s 2025 and 2027 second-round draft picks. The Sparks also sent their 2025 third-round draft pick to Seattle as part of the deal.
“Lexie is a prolific shooter and all-around grate player that bolsters our backcourt,” said Seattle Storm GM Talisa Rhea.“Her tenacity to make plays on both sides of the ball and ability to stretch the defense with tremendous range are great additions to our roster and we are thrilled to welcome her to Seattle.”
Brown, a seven-year WNBA veteran, brings valuable experiance to the storm. Over the past three seasons with the Sparks, she averaged 9.2 points, 2.6 assists, and shot 41.6% from the field. Notably, she achieved career highs in field goal percentage (48.6%) and 3-point percentage (41.5%) in 2023.
This move reunites Brown with former Sparks teammate Nneka Ogwumike, who also plays for the Storm. The duo played together from 2022 to 2023. Brown also has a WNBA Championship under her belt, acquired in 2021 as a member of the Chicago Sky.
Drafted ninth overall in 2018 by the Connecticut Sun, Brown has played for multiple teams throughout her career, including the Minnesota Lynx. At the collegiate level, she excelled at both the University of Maryland and Duke University. Notably, Brown set the ACC record for consecutive free throws made during her time at Duke, further showcasing her all-around talent.
