Lakers Sign Veteran Center Alex Len
The Los Angeles Lakers signed veteran center Alex Len on Tuesday to bolster thier frontcourt depth. To make room for Len, the team waived injured center Christian Wood.
Len, 31, is in his 12th NBA season. He most recently played for the Sacramento Kings before being traded to Washington as part of the deal that sent Marcus Smart to the Wizards. Washington waived Len shortly after the trade.
Len was reportedly on the verge of signing with the Indiana Pacers after being waived by Washington, but the Lakers swooped in to fill a pressing need for a backup center. The signing comes after the Lakers traded star Anthony Davis to Dallas earlier this month to acquire Luka Doncic.
The Lakers’ frontcourt depth was significantly impacted by the Davis trade. The addition of Len provides valuable experience and size off the bench.
