For the first time since its inception in 2018, the LA Kings will host the NHL Rookie Faceoff this fall. The games are scheduled to take place at the Toyota Sports Performance Center in El Segundo, CA—the practice and operations hub of the LA Kings—from September 13 to September 16.

While the event has previously been held in Las Vegas (twice), Anaheim, Arizona, and San Jose, the Kings have yet to be a host until now. One of the barriers during the early seasons was the absence of two NHL-sized ice sheets at TSPC, but this issue was resolved a few years ago when the second sheet was converted from Olympic to NHL dimensions. As of this summer, the Kings and Colorado were the only teams that had not hosted, but Los Angeles will finally take its turn this fall.
From the Kings’ standpoint, they will play three games in four days, all on the main ice sheet at TSPC. The first two games will have puck drops at 7 PM, with the Kings facing off against Vegas and Utah, followed by a Monday afternoon matinee against Anaheim. Below is the complete Kings schedule:

Last season, nine players who participated had experience playing professional games in either the NHL or AHL, including Alex Laferriere, who suited up for 86 games with the Kings during the regular season and playoffs.
The primary distinction between Rookie Camp and Development Camp is that college players cannot attend the former and are thus ineligible for the Rookie Faceoff. With school in session, players like Ryan Conmy, Jack Hughes, and Jared Wright will not be included on the roster.
As for potential participants, players such as Liam Greentree, Carter George, and Jared Woolley from the 2024 Draft Class are expected to take part. This will mark the first opportunity for all three players to don a Kings jersey in a game setting. Typically, the Rookie Faceoff features more experienced players compared to a Development Camp roster. This summer, Francesco Pinelli was the only participant with professional experience, but eligible players like Martin Chromiak, Andre Lee, Samuel Helenius, Erik Portillo, and Cole Krygier, who all played in Ontario last season, could also compete. Additionally, Aatu Jamsen and Kirill Kirsanov—who were present at development camp but could not skate due to injuries—are also eligible. While it is unlikely Kirsanov will play due to his contract in the KHL, Jamsen, having recently signed his entry-level contract, could be seen on the ice.
