SAMBUCA DI SICILIA – Leonardo Paez and Claudia Peretti dominated the eighth edition of the Granfondo Valle dei Vini Classic mountain bike race, securing first place in the men’s and women’s overall standings, respectively. The challenging 46-kilometer course attracted over 400 athletes to Sambuca di Sicilia for a day of intense competition.

Several athletes from Sciacca participated in the Granfondo, competing across various categories. Tonino Bonifacio achieved 5th place in the M6 category, while Paolo Avona finished 15th in the same category. Daniele Sclafani secured 13th place in the E-Bike category, followed by Domenico Ciaccio in 5th place, also in the E-Bike category.In the Elit Master Sport category, Manlio Colmone finished 11th, and Tommaso Sabella placed 10th. These cyclists from Sciacca received technical support from Daniele Bono and Lorenzo Sabella.
Karate Judo Club Competes at Regional Championship
In other sports news, the Fijlkam Regional Championship in Patti, featuring the Katà (Imaginary Combat) specialisation, saw participation from Vincenzo Interrante of the Karate Judo Club of Sciacca. Despite a strong effort, Interrante was eliminated in the second round and did not qualify for repechage, ultimately finishing in 11th place. Limited training opportunities due to university commitments impacted his performance. The karate Judo Club,under the guidance of Maestro Pippo Piazza,is now preparing for future federated competitive events.
