According to the latest Rumor Chart updates, the Detroit Red Wings appear to be making a significant effort to acquire Jacob Trouba, based on information from my sources.
Of course, the decision ultimately rests with Trouba since he possesses a 15-team no-trade clause. Additionally, his primary concern is remaining close to his wife while she completes her medical residency—this is influencing both his willingness and unwillingness regarding potential trades.
This situation poses challenges for the Red Wings in two ways: firstly, they must negotiate a deal that the Rangers consider fair value; secondly, they need to persuade Trouba to move his in-season residence from New York to Michigan. Trouba still has two years left on his current contract with an $8 million cap hit.
